Gala Games gives players authority over their games to change the gaming business. Gala Games makes "blockchain games you'll actually play." The idea intends to change the reality that gamers can spend hundreds of dollars on in-game assets, which can be taken away with a click of a button. It intends to revive creative thinking by giving users control of games and in-game assets via blockchain technology.

Gala Games' NFTs allow players to affect game governance. Players can vote on which Gala games to build and fund using Founder's Nodes. Gala Games uses GALA, its own utility token, in addition to NFTs. Gala Games has released Town Star and VOX as NFT collectibles. It hopes to develop fantasy RPG, sci-fi strategy, and tower defense games in the future.

Gala Games boasts 1.3 million monthly active users and has sold 26,000 NFTs, the most costly for $3 million.

Gala Games' founders

Eric Schiermeyer founded Gala. He co-founded social and mobile games firm Zynga. Zynga launched Poker, Mafia Wars, and Farmville under Schiermeyer. Schiermeyer, a pioneer in gaming, established Gala Games in July 2019 to create a blockchain-based game network and give players more control.

Gala Games has 60 workers.

Gala Games' uniqueness

Gala Games offers a variety of blockchain games that put fun first and blockchain second. Town Star is a browser-based town simulation. In Town Star, players own the town they administer, unlike SimCity.

Gala Games' NFT avatars are VOX. VOXs are unique and unusual. 8,888 VOX were given for 0.0888 ETH, or $280 at the time of writing. VOX, inspired by Town Stars, is more than an NFT avatar. GALA holders can earn VOXcoin by playing with their VOX avatars. VOX owners get an FBX file to animate or 3D print their avatars.

Other games are in development as well. Fortified is a PvP medieval tower defense game. Tower defense strategies will be compared.

Mirandus is a fantasy role playing game (RPG) set in a huge planet ruled by five player-monarchs. Players can claim in-game goods and land.

Echoes of Empire is a sci-fi strategy game set within a galaxy at war. Players will own spaceships and control planets.

Spider Tank Project is a MOBA where players choose a "spider tank" to battle. Free-to-play game with in-game earnings. It's due Q4 2021.

Community feedback is crucial to game development. Gala Games' Discord community regularly tests assumptions. This lets players influence game design.

Gala Nodes run on Gala networks. They get GALA, special edition NFTs, and other incentives. The Gala Node ecosystem uses proof-of-work, proof-of-stake, and proof-of-storage nodes. Founder Nodes are PoW based on 50,000 fully-owned NFTs. Early network supporters will receive NFTs from all games and GALA allocated to their node license. PoS are "rented" smart contract nodes that function for certain games. Proof-of-Storage nodes are free and will allow games to be hosted on the node ecosystem, avoiding reliance on Amazon S3.
