Unlike Apple and other technology businesses, which operate stores in high-traffic places such as retail malls, the Meta Store will debut on May 9 at the company's Burlingame, California, campus. The store will contain demo rooms where customers can test out its Oculus virtual reality headsets and the apps and games that run on them, among other things.

The Quest 2 headset, attachments, and Portal video chat devices will be available for purchase at the store. Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses will be available for trial but will only be available for purchase online. Meta has also announced the addition of a "shop" tab to its website.

“Ultimately, our goal with the Meta Store is to show people what’s possible with our products today, while giving a glimpse into the future as the metaverse comes to life —and hopefully demystifying that concept a bit in the process,” the company said.
