Bitcoin, Joe Rogan, and the Government

Joe Rogan, presenter of The Joe Rogan Experience, discussed bitcoin on his show, which aired on Tuesday. Khalil Rountree Jr., a UFC light heavyweight competitor, is interviewed on the episode.

The Joe Rogan Experience is one of the most popular podcasts in the world, with over 1,800 episodes that receive millions of views on a regular basis. The New York Times reported in February that Spotify paid more than $200 million for Rogan's podcast, which is now available exclusively on the site.

Rogan told Rountree, "I think about bitcoin the same way I think about the early internet." He said the government "didn't see it coming" and that they "didn't see it coming."

"It's now a valid form of payment. You can use it to make purchases. I believe the government is in a panic."

He went on to say what he expects the government to do, noting that during the Obama administration, they tried to censor the internet. "It broke apart because people were upset and uproared, and they didn't think the political ramifications were worth it... "As a result, they backed off," Rogan remarked.

The prominent podcaster believes that, similar to what China is doing, the government would eventually establish a centralized digital currency. He emphasized:

"They're going to try to impose a digital currency - a centralized, controllable digital currency."

What's worrisome about the government's centralized digital currency, according to Rogan, is that they can look at you and your online conduct to decide what you can and can't spend your money on. He warned that the government might allow someone to spend money on food but not on travel.

In January, Rogan stated that cryptocurrencies, notably bitcoin, "have a lot of hope." He did concede, though, that he didn't fully comprehend it at the time.

"What we're seeing right now is, it'll either fall apart entirely or we'll utilize this as an opportunity to right the ship and come up with a better way to live our lives," he said at the time.
