According to a blog post published Monday, Coinbase Global (COIN) will begin allowing a "limited set" of its app users to access Ethereum-based decentralized apps (dapps) straight from the Coinbase app.
- Users will be able to buy NFTs on a variety of platforms, including OpenSea and Coinbase's own NFT platform; trade on decentralized exchanges like Uniswap and Sushiswap; and borrow and lend on DeFi platforms like Curve and Compound.
- Coinbase's new dapp wallet and browser will power these functionalities. The new services will be available in the United States on Android initially, to a select group of users, with intentions to spread to all users and platforms soon.
- According to Andrew Thurman of blockchain analytics firm Nansen, "almost 95 percent of the over 300 million bitcoin investors globally have not moved outside a controlled exchange." "Coinbase's action has the potential to introduce a new generation of consumers to the world of DeFi and NFTs."
