Axie Infinity Game Makes Debut on Apple App Store in Key Markets
Sky Mavis, the designer of the famous fantasy monster-battle nonfungible token (NFT) game Axie Infinity, said on Tuesday that the Axie Infinity Builders Program had accepted the first user-created projects. Only 12 people were chosen for the Builders Program out of 2,000 applicants.
Among the various benefits, selected teams will get a minimum $10,000 grant to fund project development in Axie Infinity's governance token, Axie Infinity Shards (AXS). They will also be given license to use the Axie Infinity brand to monetize their game through a revenue-share mechanism. Across Lunacia, a platforming adventure for Axie NFTs, and Mech Infinity, a battle royale game utilizing Axies and their special skills, are two notable projects. Axie Infinity's game product lead, Philip La, said:
"Over time, community co-creation [...] will be a key driver of scaled-value generation." The Builders Program is the first step toward a new world where members of the community can make large and meaningful contributions directly to the games and projects they care about, and it's just one of many efforts that will help gamers get greater enjoyment out of their Axies."
Axie Infinity is noted for its play-to-earn gaming mechanic, in which players use their Axie NFTs to complete in-game tasks in order to gain digital tokens like Smooth Love Potion (SLP). SLP, on the other hand, has lost 96 percent of its value in the last year due to a bloated token supply, the ongoing crypto bear market, and a crowded player base. As a result, gamers began to leave the game in droves as their incomes plummeted.
Axie Infinity's daily active players peaked at 2.37 million in January, according to ActivePlayer.io, before declining for four months in a row. The current figure is 1.86 million.
