Litecoin [LTC] saw considerable selling pressure at the start of the week as the bears gained control of the market. The resultant decline has driven LTC near its August support level, putting it in an unstable zone.
The next halvening for Litecoin (ltc) will take place on approximately Sat, 01 Jul 2023 13:02 at block number 2500000. The current block height is 2316019 and each block takes approximately 150 seconds to mine. This is expected to take place 309 before the Bitcoin halving. All dates are estimated using current and expected block completion times.
A Litecoin halving is scheduled to take place every 840,000 blocks according to a predetermined schedule defined in the Litecoin protocol. Two Litecoin halvings have already taken place, one in 2015 and again in 2019. The Litecoin halving in 2015 reduced the Litecoin block reward from 50 LTC each block to 25 LTC each block.
Similarly, at present Litecoin miners mine a Litecoin block every 2.5 minutes and receives 25 LTC as a block reward. But now after the next halving of Litecoin, this block reward will get halved to 12.5 LTC, and this halving happens after every 840,000 blocks of Litecoin have been mined.
